Regina’s Door is a customer-service oriented boutique specializing in exquisite vintage dresses and pieces from the Victorian Era to the 1980’s. The boutique is a social enterprise that provides employment, training and mentoring to young sex trafficking survivors in partnership with the Bay Area Anti-Trafficking organization Love Never Fails. Regina’s Door is honored to be the 2015 Oakland Indie Award Winner for Social Changemaker.

Q: What inspired you to start your business?
I launched Regina’s Door because I am inspired by the beauty and stories that live with the gorgeous spirit of the dresses and silhouettes of the past day. Additionally, I wanted to provide a safe haven for young sex trafficking survivors via a space where they can learn and grow. I always say the following about Regina’s Door,”It is a healing space with pretty vintage dresses.”.

Q: Tell us in one sentence why your customers love your business.
I believe that my customers love Regina’s Door because it provides them with a serene boutique where they can purchase beautifully unique vintage dresses, and it is also a community space where they can be inspired.

Q: What’s the best thing about doing business in Oakland?
The best thing about doing business in Oakland is that, for me, it’s home. I am a second generation Oakland Native and it is wonderful to be able to offer my talents and gifts in my birth city. And, I have to say, that the ultimate best thing is, of course, my customers. The women that visit my space are extraordinary in their strength and inherent beauty. I am constantly inspired by their compassion.

Q: What are some of your favorite local businesses in Oakland?
Some of my favorite local businesses are Show and Tell Concept Store (best eclectic range of home grown gear), Oo La La Gift and Accessories Lounge (best “world flavored” dresses), A Diva’s Closet (best earrings), Making Endz Meet (best vintage jewelry), Vamp Vintage Art and Music (best vintage purses), Stag’s Luncheonette (best grilled cheeses sandwich and staff) and Nailphoria Nail Salon (best pedicures).

Q: What’s the one thing Oakland offers that you couldn’t live without?
The beautiful murals. Amazing!
